Does the Anti-Candida (Yeast) Diet Actually Work?

By admin | Sep 15, 2009

I have recurring vaginal yeast infections. I do not have diabetes or any other health problems to speak of but, as you can imagine, the vaginal yeast infections get really annoying. Has anyone experienced success getting rid of the infections with the Anti-Candida diet? If so, what did you eat and for how long? And if you did anything else that worked, please share!
Blue, I wish we could directly reply to posts, but I wanted to know, what kind of yogurt do you eat? Are you still on the diet? What other foods do you eat? Help would be much appreciated!
I have always heard about people who are ON the diet, but I haven’t heard about anybody actually fully getting rid of their problem with it, which is why I ask…
I don’t douche (never have)

Yes, it does work. When I was having a problem, I cut way back on sugar and refined carbs for about 3 months. I also ate lots of yogurt. It really helped me to stop the recurring yeast infections.

My sister does this diet on a much longer term basis. She eats very few carbs, almost no sugar, and no cheese. Her plan is based on Atkins, modified for the additional problem with yeast. She has good results when she is strict with her diet.

For yogurt, I eat the Stonyfield Farms brand, as it has a good amount of live cultures in it. I’m not on the diet anymore, other than eating the yogurt. I really like sugar and it’s hard to stick to such a low sugar diet for me. I will cut back on sugar and refined carbs if I feel like I’m about to get a yeast infection. I try to eat more veggies and whole grains and less processed stuff with added sugars.

Yes it works fabulously, but you have to be scrupulous about following the diet.It consists of lots of veggies, no cheese, brown rice, some fruits(limited at first), turkey, fish, etc.
See if you can find a copy of "The Yeast Connection" by William Crook. It’s an older book–possibly out of print–but it will really help you. There are also a number of Dr. Crook-based websites full of information.
    Good Luck.
PS: The yogurt I used was Mountain High plain.

I know this sounds so simple and easy but try eating yogurt regularly, once a day and see if that helps also.
