Hi Dr. Jo.
Would you suspect a relationship between Interstitial Cystitis (IC) and Candida infections?

I beat candida in 4 days.
Candida is a blood fat problem. Fat inhibits the absorption of sugars in the blood so those sugars hand around and feed the candida. It’s not a sugar problem or a yeast problem. I ate fruit only (yes fruit!) for 4 days and the candida vanished.
I’ve returned to my raw vegan diet but around 10-15% fat - no oils etc, and only very little avocado every day or so, and I’m doing fine. I’m eating two meals of fruit only every day.
Message me if you need clarification.

Everyone I know who has tried this - fruit only diet - beats candida. For me it was 4 days. I’ve heard of 2 days and don’t know anyone who took more than 7 days before symptoms began to vanish. I no longer eat any overt fats (oils, etc) except for 1/2 an avocado and no more in any 24 hour period - usually with my dinner. If I eat fruit before the early afternoon my body hasn’t absorbed enough fat, I get some mild symptoms of candida.

I’m moving towards an almost complete diet of fruit: Google the 80/10/10 diet by Doug Graham.

I tried the traditional candida diet of no wheat/gluten, no fermented products (tofu, etc), no sugar and no fruit for four years. I took Olive Leaf extract a few times every day. For me, candida manifested many food allergies. They mostly vanished on that diet, but it was very restricted as a vegan and even with the diet, I’d get allergic reactions which I couldn’t explain. I also felt it to be unhealthy to try living without fruit for years and years.

When I discovered that excess fat was inhibiting the absorption of sugars in my system everything was clear. I’d been putting lots of olive oil on my food and was eating at least one avocado a day. When I cut those overt fats out the candida vanished in 4 days.

The conventional wisdom is that you should stay away from sugar as many therapists think that candida is based on problems with sugar metabolism. They’ve slightly missed the mark as the problem is that fat inhibits the absorption of sugar.

I ate bananas (eat them when they’re spotty) and papaya (paw paw) and strawberries mostly. You’ll need to eat lots so that you don’t feel too hungry. I blend bananas and strawberries up with enough water to make them like a milky smoothy - tastes great!
Believe it or not, you can eat 20 bananas a day easily.
I really recommend that you read the 80/10/10 Diet by Doug Graham.

You can eat fruit because it’s natural for humans to do so. As long as you cut out all overt fats and oils. I’m a vegan so it was easy. If you eat meat and dairy, you would have to take into account their high fat levels. Because it’s fat that’s the problem. I did 4 or 5 days on pure fruit and now eat one or two meals a day of pure fruit - don’t mix citrus and sweet fruit. Best not to have dried fruit. In the evenings I have rice or baked potato with lots of leafy greens, chick peas, etc.
