I’ve had a yeast infection for about six weeks solid now. Nothing has gotten rid of it for more than a couple days at a time, and I don’t think it ever completely goes away. I have a monogamous partner and was tested for STDs about a year ago, and yes, all cultures done have come back positive for yeast. (I’m HIV negative, my white blood cell count is normal and so is my blood sugar, so immunodeficiency doesn’t seem to be the problem.)
I’m so sick of this and I don’t know what to do!
I started out with two kits of Terazol 3, back to back. Useless. Then, I tried Monistat-7. Also useless. Took one dose of generic Diflucan and another three days later. That seemed to clear it up for about two days, but then it came back with a vengeance.
I’ve eaten so much yogurt, I never want to see a tub of the stuff again. I’m taking probiotics. I’ve tried garlic. I’m going commando, I shower all the damn time and wash my girly parts well — but not with soap.
I’ve only had sex with my partner like four times in this six week period, and I’m moving soon. It’s breaking my heart because I’d like to be able to be intimate with him before we take it long distance in about a month.
I’m desperate, but I also have very little willpower when it comes to food and seriously don’t think an Atkins-esque diet will work for me.
A doctor finally wrote me a script for five — yes, FIVE — doses of generic diflucan. I’ve taken one every day, and my fifth dose will be tomorrow. I haven’t seen much improvement, and the 100-degree weather sure isn’t helping.
I’m hoping the Diflucan is just taking a little while…I’d hope it will knock this out. Anyone have any experience with a hardcore Diflucan dose like this? Anyone have a doozy of a yeast infection they finally got rid of? If so, how the heck did you do it?

Are you still having the cottage cheese like discharge or just itching? It’s possible that it is another type of vaginal infection that isn’t fungal. Are you taking any kind of medications besides the yeast infection meds? Do you have any other kids of health problems or symptoms?
Also, there are conditions that make you much more prone to yeast infections. Make sure your doctor is screening you for things that could be causing this.
As for curing this, if it really is yeast, I would cut out all yeast in your diet. Some people just have yeast overgrowths in their bodies. If you cut out yeast you won’t be adding anything to the situation. Cut way back on sugar in your diet. Sugar will feed the existing yeast and make things worse. Start wearing cotton underwear if you don’t already.
I don’t think you need to do an atkins type diet, but if you cut back on yeast and sugar I think it would help. I used to have frequent yeast infections and it turned out to be related to gluten intolerance. You might explore that too. Let me know if you have any questions!
My friend had a yeast infection and she refused to tell her mom, so i helped her with it..Anyway, We read online if you dip a the tip of a tampon in Unsweetened yogurt and put it in it will help…But don’t eat any sugar! Sugar feeds yeast..
i have had this problem many times! i know its so aggravating! i tried all of the over the counter drugs and dilfucan and antibiotics and nothing helped! I take probotics and they work wonders for me. also, i use tea tree oil(yes just put it up there!) and it seems to get rid of it in 3 days. also for maintenance i take colloidal silver and i have not had one for over a year ever sense i started to take it. yogurt did help sooth for me too. just dont have sex while you have the infection. if you are not all the way cured you can give it to your partner and then if you have sex then he can give it right back to you.
I am not a doctor and don’t entirely understand the types of flora that live in the vagina (and SHOULD live in the vagina), but I think, based on experience, that you might have gotten the balance of microbes out of kilter. I would ask for another culture and have them test to see if your yeast and mibrobe levels are normal and in balance with each other. If they test for yeast, they will find it because it naturally lives there. There may be other microbes that are too high, or have been killed off. Don’t rule out an allergy to your birth control.
So sorry you are going through this! Hope you are much better soon!!
